Are you an experienced nurse looking for a new challenge? We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 nurse to join our team at the Paediatric Emergency Department.

About the Role

  • As a leader in our department, you will be responsible for ensuring high-quality clinical practice is maintained, based on the latest nursing evidence.
  • You will promote the effective and safe flow of patients through the department, advising on health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Advocating for children and families using your professional expertise, knowledge, and judgment is also a key aspect of this role.
  • You will observe changes in patients' attitudes, behavior, and emotional states, reporting and escalating findings to relevant healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Maintaining clinical skills and competencies specific to the post, including triage, venepuncture, IV cannulation, ECG monitoring, and NG tube insertion, are essential.
  • Recognizing and mitigating situations detrimental to patients' health and wellbeing, escalating to the Paediatric ED Nursing Manager (Band 7) or HoN/ADoN as required, is crucial.
  • You will be responsible for the correct administration and custody of medicines according to Trust Policy, including safe administration of intravenous drugs, transfusion of blood and blood products.
  • Ensuring effective and efficient patient journeys by supervising admissions/discharges, episodes of care, and transitions to other settings is also part of this role.
  • Patient feedback will be encouraged and utilized to improve patient experience.

Salary Information

The salary for this role is estimated to be around £32,306 - £43,041 per annum, depending on experience.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse - Child (RSCN/RNC) with current NMC registration.
  • Experience within an acute or emergency Paediatric setting, with effective shift coordination, management of patient care, staffing, and resources.
  • Mentorship, teaching, and assessing are essential skills for this role.
