We are offering an exciting opportunity to lead a key facility in metallurgical testing, renowned for precision and innovation. As the Senior Metallurgical Operations Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of a UKAS-accredited lab, combining hands-on technical work with leadership responsibilities.

About the Role

  • You will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting advanced metallurgical testing equipment, including tensile testers, hardness testers, optical and SEM microscopes, and spectrometers.
  • Conducting and supervising metallographic and mechanical testing (tensile, impact, microstructural analysis) is also a key part of this role.
  • Mentoring and managing a small team, including an apprentice, to ensure growth and technical excellence is also essential.

About You

  • A degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related field is required, but previous work experience in a similar role may be considered if formal qualifications are not available.
  • Proven experience in metallurgical testing and hands-on use of advanced lab equipment as well as metallurgical testing machineries is a must.
  • Knowledge of quality standards (BS EN ISO, ASTM, ASME) and lab management is also required.
