Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design Lead to join our team at Belcan Technical Recruiting (UK) Ltd. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the production of OHL detailed design packages, ensuring compliance with client and national technical standards, and managing project delivery to meet time, quality, budgetary, and health and safety targets.

About the Role

  • Lead the production of OHL detailed design packages, taking ownership and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Maintain strict adherence to client and national technical standards, driving compliance across all projects.
  • Manage a team of junior engineers, providing guidance and support to enhance their technical skills and capabilities.
  • Prepare complex calculations and technical/equipment specification documentation, utilizing industry-standard tools and software.
  • Assume a consultancy role on FEED stage projects, producing comprehensive technical reports and presentations to drive project success.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with CDM Regulations and other relevant legal and regulatory requirements associated with Overhead Line works.
  • Deliver projects in accordance with Management Systems, meeting time, quality, budgetary, and health and safety targets.
  • Pursue innovative solutions for OHL design using PLS-CADD in accordance with BS-EN 50341, while analyzing structures with PLS-Tower.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer professional status or working towards.
  • Previous experience as a CDAE under National Grid SR188 is advantageous, but not mandatory.

Essential Experience

  • In-depth experience with PLS-CADD, PLS-Tower is a must.
  • Substantial experience in HV OHL design within the UK electricity transmission & distribution sector.
  • Thorough knowledge of applying SPEN, SSEN, and/or National Grid Technical Specification, Technical Guidance Notes, Supplier Requirements, and Design Handbooks related to Overhead Line Design in the UK.
  • A deep understanding of current Construction (Design & Management) Regulations, UK Health & Safety legislation, and Sustainability principles.
