Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team as a Building Performance Specialist. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in helping us grow and support our services in Berkeley, California.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Learn and Implement Best Practices: Develop and implement best-practice fundamentals and implementation strategies for high-performance building enclosures, mechanical and plumbing systems, zero-energy features, and other related areas.
  2. Grow into a Respected Consultant: Grow into a respected whole-building consultant, integrating a diverse array of knowledge to provide insightful information to clients.
  3. Collaborate with Colleagues: Work with colleagues to facilitate cross-disciplinary design charettes and develop Owner's Project Requirements (OPR) documents with clients at project initiation.
  4. Interpret Code and Program Requirements: Interpret code and program requirements for Title 24, IECC, building codes, LEED, GreenPoint Rated, Passive House, Living Building Challenge, and other relevant programs.
  5. Review Plans and Documentation: Review plans, documentation, and contractor submittals for compliance with requirements.
  6. Conduct Construction Field Visits: Conduct construction field visits to review progress, verify compliance with goals, and solve field issues.
  7. Grow into a Project Management Role: Grow into a project management role, acting as the main point of contact for clients, tracking schedules and deliverables, and producing or delegating as needed to get the work done.
  8. Establish Thought Leadership: Establish thought leadership by writing blog posts, being active in outside organizations, and educating and engaging with the greater community.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Engineering Degree or Equivalent: Hold an engineering degree or equivalent education or experience.
  2. Relevant Work Experience: Have two years of relevant post-academic work experience.
  3. Commitment to Professional Excellence: Demonstrate a commitment to professional excellence and high-performance design through continual learning, active involvement in organizations, and regular participation in conferences or events.
  4. Strong Organizational and Project Management Skills: Possess strong organizational and project management skills.
