Ford & Slater Limited, a family-run business with 16 locations across the UK, is seeking an experienced Truck Maintenance Technician to join their team in Birtley. This role offers a competitive salary and various benefits.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a Technician or Mechanic within the HGV, Commercial Vehicle, LGV, PSV, Heavy Plant, Car, or associated sector. If you're a Light Commercial or Car Mechanic looking to transfer your skills, we can provide training to become a Truck Maintenance Technician.

Key Responsibilities
  • Servicing and maintaining a wide variety of trucks and vehicles
  • Carrying out safety inspections and preparing vehicles for MOTs
  • Fault diagnostics
  • Ensuring repairs are carried out according to manufacturers' procedures and in a safe and responsible manner
  • Road testing vehicles when required, subject to license restrictions

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Previous experience working as a Technician or Mechanic within the HGV, Commercial Vehicle, LGV, PSV, Heavy Plant, Car, or associated sector
  • Level 3 (C&G, NVQ or equivalent) in Commercial Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
  • Excellent technical knowledge ensuring maintenance and repairs are carried out to manufacturers' procedures
  • Sound knowledge to accurately diagnose faults
  • Carry safety inspections and prepare vehicles for MOTs
  • Ability to participate in breakdowns
  • Skills to follow company processes for completing all paperwork including accurate completion of job cards and service records
  • General level of computer literacy is advantageous
  • Full UK driving licence

The estimated salary for this role is around £45,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
