Opportunity

We are seeking a Test Engineering Intern at our facility in Ipswich, Suffolk. In Ipswich, we design, manufacture, and distribute turf maintenance equipment under the brands of Ransomes and Jacobsen. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to work in a Test Engineering environment and be able to demonstrate a broad understanding of the function.

Responsibilities

  1. Support the creation and development of engineering test plans to demonstrate components, systems, or vehicles meet functional requirements as defined by Senior Engineers;
  2. Support the completion of Test Requests to demonstrate how all designs meet technical, performance, and reliability targets as identified by a Senior Engineers or Engineering Managers;
  3. Support the creation and maintenance of engineering test reports and review these reports with senior engineering staff;
  4. To ensure that all tests can be carried out in a safe efficient manner;
  5. Utilise best practice reference documents and standard in-house tests where possible;
  6. To read, understand, and incorporate requirements of standards and directives relevant to the product under development;
  7. Liaise with other Engineers and departments when implementing new principles;
  8. To assist in the development of test regimes to validate design elements of a project;
  9. Be engaged in communication at all levels within Ransomes Jacobsen Ltd, and with relevant suppliers, distributors, dealers, and end users;
  10. Other duties as required.

Qualifications/Skills/Experience Required

  1. You should be enrolled in an Engineering related degree that offers a placement year opportunity;
  2. Good knowledge of CAD (ideally UG NX);
  3. Comfortable designing in a variety of materials including steels, plastics and alloys;
  4. Able to deliver a hands-on approach working within a multi-disciplinary 'team' to take design concepts and develop appropriate test plans, equipment and rigs to demonstrate how components, systems and vehicles meet both legislative and reliability targets;
  5. Prior internships/work experience is advantageous;
  6. Self-motivating and able to work with low levels of supervision to defined objectives.
