Role Overview

This role at North East Autism Society is for a Special Education Support Specialist to support autistic and neurodivergent children and young people to access highly personalised programmes of study in one of the Society's specialist schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students with their education and daily needs, working independently and as part of a team
  • Work closely with teachers and other professionals to provide a tailored approach to each student's needs
  • Assist with lesson planning, preparation, and delivery
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to students, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment
Person Specification
  • Ability to use initiative and work independently
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with staff and students
  • Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to a collaborative and supportive environment
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills, with a drive and resilience for a demanding role
