Job Description

A locum opportunity has arisen within Monmouthshire Social Services' Family Support and Protection Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a high-performing Local Authority offering a friendly and supportive team environment.

This position is primarily based at Usk, with home working encouraged during Covid, as well as office working. The contract will run for an initial 3-6 month contract to cover a permanent position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the assessment and planning for children, young people, and their families who are considered to require Social Care involvement to ensure their health and well-being and protection from neglect and abuse.
  • Complete assessments and progress plans that evidence an improvement in the welfare of children and young people within a time frame that is appropriate for the child/young person.
  • Responsible for preparation of written evidence and the progression of the case to legal proceedings.
  • Case load will consist of cases that require a high level of statutory intervention, including Child Protection, Private and Public law cases.
  • Responsible for adoption orders where required.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 6 months experience of working in the UK as a registered social worker.
  • A relevant Social Work Qualification.
  • Registration with Social Care Wales / Social Work England.
  • Enhanced DBS, registered on the update service or be happy to apply for a DBS.
  • 3 Years of referencing.
  • Driving license with access to a car.
