Job Description

As a Crisis Support Worker at Bradford Council, you will play a vital role in delivering one-to-one crisis support to clients facing mental health challenges. This is a permanent position based at Central Hall, Keighley & Kenburgh House, Bradford.

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate individual to join our team as a Crisis Support Worker. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering one-to-one support sessions to individuals in mental health crisis, providing a safe and supportive environment to help them cope with their feelings and access necessary support.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with clients from diverse backgrounds. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to manage referrals, book appointments, and conduct follow-up calls after crisis sessions. Additionally, you will participate in shift handovers and team meetings, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.

Main Responsibilities
  • Deliver one-to-one support sessions to individuals in mental health crisis, using a recovery-focused and person-centred approach.
  • Manage referrals, book appointments, and conduct follow-up calls after crisis sessions, ensuring timely and effective support.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to identify and address client needs, highlighting any changes in their presentation relevant to their safety plan.
  • Liaise with professionals and organisations across the district, including referrers and partners, to ensure seamless coordination of care.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of client notes and information, maintaining up-to-date records.
Requirements and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A strong understanding of mental health principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritising tasks and managing time effectively.
  • Proficiency in using technology, including software and hardware, to support daily tasks.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring concerns are escalated appropriately.
Working Arrangements

This is a permanent position with a minimum of 2 shifts per week. Shifts are available on Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday (Keighley), Wednesday and Saturday (Bradford), and Sunday (Bradford). You will work in a dynamic and supportive environment, with opportunities for professional growth and development.

Salary and Benefits
