Orpington, Greater London, United Kingdom Amazon UK Services Ltd. Full time
About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Reliability Maintenance Engineering Technician to join our team at Amazon UK Services Ltd. As a key member of our Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team, you will play a vital role in maintaining the reliability and efficiency of our equipment and workspaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform proactive and preventative maintenance tasks on a wide range of site equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Carry out reactive repairs and fault diagnosis in a live distribution warehouse, using your technical expertise to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Utilize the latest tools and technologies to maximize equipment effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Uphold all health and safety policies and practices, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
  • Support the development and progression of on-site apprentices, sharing your knowledge and expertise to help them grow in their roles.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects, identifying opportunities to enhance processes and implement best practices across multiple EU sites.
A Day in the Life

As an RME Technician, you will work on-site, responding quickly to machinery issues and carrying out a range of planned preventative maintenance tasks to ensure our sites' equipment is working safely and efficiently. You will also investigate, diagnose, and resolve breakdowns, implementing solutions as quickly as possible and suggesting long-term improvements.

You will work closely with senior colleagues, undertaking day-to-day maintenance tasks such as painting and plumbing, and liaising with contractors when necessary. You will work on a range of shifts to ensure our sites are supported around the clock, allowing Amazon to deliver at the speed we're known for.

About the Team

Our Reliability Maintenance Engineering team is a technically-minded group of excellent team players, guided by experienced leaders. We work together to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment across our global network of fulfillment centers. Some of our team members are leaders, overseeing the team as they work on exciting technology – some of which only exists at Amazon.

We handle most aspects of Amazon's technical side, including installing automated packaging systems, maintaining general site equipment, and repairing key distribution equipment. We also ensure our sites are legally compliant, keeping everyone safe and our operations running at maximum efficiency. There are opportunities for progression within the RME team and more widely across Amazon.

We focus on reducing downtime in Amazon's critical operations sites, so customers receive their orders on time. We often work during early or late hours to carry out maintenance with minimal disruption, including night shifts. If we spot a better way to do something, we have the skills and opportunity to develop and introduce new processes or cutting-edge tech like Amazon Robotics and our Complex Item Sorter.
