Medical Receptionist

About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized and communicative Medical Receptionist to join our team at Newgate Medical Group. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system
- Process personal telephone and electronic requests for appointments
- Answer incoming phone calls and transfer calls or deal with callers' requests appropriately
- Signpost patients to the correct service
- Initiate contact with and respond to requests from patients, team members, and external agencies
- Photocopy documentation as required
- Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information
- Input data into patients' healthcare records as necessary
- Direct requests for information, SARs, insurance, solicitors' letters, and DVLA forms to the administrative team
- Manage all queries in an efficient manner, including prescription queries
- Carry out system searches as requested
- Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
- Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards
- Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
Person Specification
- GCSE Maths and English (C or above)
- AMSPAR Receptionist Qualification or Customer Service Level 2 or 3
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Strong IT skills
- Clear, polite telephone manner
- Competent in the use of Office and Outlook
- Effective time management (planning and organizing)
- Ability to work as a team member and autonomously
- Good interpersonal skills
- Problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to follow policy and procedure
