About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer with a mechanical bias to join our engineering team at our manufacturing facility in Runcorn. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance of assets to maximize plant availability and maintain production.

This is a permanent, full-time position operating on early and late shifts from Monday to Friday. The successful candidate will be required to work alternately between 5:30am-1:30pm and 1:15pm-9:15pm, with 1 hour less on Friday.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide full technical engineering support to the Production function under the leadership of the Engineering Manager. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Complying with the health and safety policy and regulations
  • Carrying out risk assessments and implementing controls to minimize risk
  • Locking off dangerous machinery and repairing and notifying as necessary
  • Resolving breakdowns, carrying out PMs, and working on project/improvement works to minimize production downtime
  • Actively seeking to undertake PMs on offline machinery where time allows
  • Fully completing PM sheets with all observations, jobs completed, and recommendations and filing with the Maintenance Planner
  • Actively gaining information from production personnel to speed up the fault-finding process
  • Ensuring engineering logs and computer systems are fully filled in with all relevant information
  • Communicating with external persons in a professional manner
Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • A time-served fully skilled engineer with appropriate qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds)
  • Proven maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment (food industry preferred)
  • Mechanical bias with proficiency in hydraulic and pneumatic systems and skilled in maintaining single-phase and three-phase motors and various pumps
  • Expertise in fault finding within electrical systems, including weighing systems
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis and continuous improvement
  • Familiarity with SAP is a plus
  • A flexible and positive 'can-do' attitude
