About the Role

Harris Academy Riverside is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Science Technician to join our team. As a key member of our science department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratories and the delivery of high-quality science education to our students.

Main Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment and materials to the highest standards.
  • Assist and support science teachers in practical lessons and enrichment activities.
  • Organize and manage the safe and secure disposal of hazardous waste.
  • Conduct safety checks on equipment and record faults and action taken.
  • Develop and maintain resources, schemes of work, and teaching strategies in the subject area.
  • Manage the allocation of work across the technician team and ensure an appropriate quality of work.
  • Provide technical support and advice to staff on the preparation and layout of classrooms for practical exercises.

Requirements

  • Excellent numeracy, literacy, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience of working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work on one's own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility in response to changing situations.
  • Evidence of relevant qualifications and further training.
  • Knowledge of appropriate Health & Safety regulations.
