About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Plasma Physicist to join our team at Tokamak Energy, a leading global commercial fusion energy company. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and operating advanced laser-based diagnostics on our spherical tokamak, ST40.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop innovative laser-based diagnostics for ST40, including the dispersion interferometer and Thomson scattering systems.
  • Install, calibrate, and operate these diagnostics, ensuring accurate and reliable data collection.
  • Collaborate with our team to analyze experimental results, inform the plasma control system, and present findings at scientific conferences.
  • Contribute to the development of next-generation spherical tokamaks and fusion energy research.
Requirements
  • PhD in physics or a related field, with a strong background in plasma physics and laser-based diagnostics.
  • Practical experience working in a laser lab and with high-powered lasers.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to present complex scientific results to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with scientific programming languages, such as Python, Matlab, or Fortran.
