Job Description

As a Nurse Specialist in Paediatric Nephrology, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of children with continuing nursing care needs in relation to Paediatric Nephrology. Your key responsibilities will include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individual programmes of care to meet the ongoing needs of these children.

You will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team to implement complex care packages for children in the community. This will involve providing clinical and nursing skills, such as enteral/parental feeds, peritoneal dialysis, and medications, as well as delivering training on these skills as required.

As a key worker/lead professional for children with Nephrology needs, you will be responsible for managing and prioritizing your workload while meeting the care needs of families. You will also be required to follow child protection processes to keep children safe.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of children with continuing nursing care needs in relation to Paediatric Nephrology
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual programmes of care to meet the ongoing needs of children
  • Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team to implement complex care packages for children in the community
  • Provide clinical and nursing skills, such as enteral/parental feeds, peritoneal dialysis, and medications
  • Deliver training on clinical and nursing skills as required
  • Manage and prioritize your workload while meeting the care needs of families
  • Follow child protection processes to keep children safe

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Strong clinical and nursing skills, with a focus on Paediatric Nephrology
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage workload effectively

Working Relationships

You will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team, including Paediatricians, other nurses, and healthcare professionals, to provide high-quality care to children with Nephrology needs. You will also work with families and carers to provide support and education on managing their child's condition.
