About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Development Technician to join our team at The Workshop. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in driving the development of our manufactured products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out mould tool changes across the organisation, ensuring seamless production processes.
  • Provide training to technicians, ensuring they have the necessary skills to perform their duties effectively.
  • Troubleshoot tooling and machinery defects, identifying and implementing solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Drive the OEE system via SMED, continuously improving efficiency and productivity.
  • Facilitate plant servicing and repair, ensuring all equipment is in good working order.
  • Develop tooling projects, working closely with the Quality Assurance and Metrology department to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Support engineers in project work, running and reporting trials to inform future development.
  • Produce tooling reports, working directly with toolmakers to resolve any issues identified.
  • Attend tool trials off-site at sub-contractors and toolmakers, ensuring the highest quality standards are met.
  • Collaborate with production line teams, providing ongoing support to ensure the needs of managers across the organisation are met.
Requirements
  • Significant technical experience of injection moulding and mould tool setting, ideally in a medical or pharmaceutical environment.
  • Minimum RJG Master Mould 1 certification or equivalent.
  • Experience of setting up new processes for cold runner and hot runner tools.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing to BS EN ISO 9001 and cGMP standards.
  • Awareness of BS EN ISO 14644 clean room requirements.
  • Knowledge of both 2D & 3D CAD (ideally Solidworks).
  • Pharmaceutical qualification understanding - IQ/OQ/PQ.
  • Experience of Good Manufacturing Practice GMP.
