Job Title: Preconstruction Design Manager

Location: Warrington

Pay Rate: £400 - £450 a day

This is a high-profile role for a Preconstruction Design Manager within a successful main contractor specializing in commercial, education, and healthcare sectors.

Client Overview

This newly created opportunity is with a growing construction firm that has experienced significant growth in the last couple of years. They have a diverse client base across the private and public sectors.

Job Responsibilities

Working out of the office in Warrington, this is a multi-project role with the following key responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the preconstruction phase of projects, ensuring designs meet client specifications and regulatory requirements.
  2. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to create cost-effective and efficient designs.
  3. Manage the project design budget and timeline, ensuring resources are allocated effectively.
  4. Conduct risk assessments and implement risk management strategies.
  5. Work closely with the client team liaising on multiple projects.
  6. Run feedback and debriefing sessions to identify customer issues and opportunities to improve policies, processes, and procedures.
  7. Maintain effective communication with the customer on all agreed actions to ensure that any issues are resolved to their satisfaction.
  8. Lead project meetings & provide regular updates to senior management on project progress.
  9. Ensure all projects adhere to company standards and industry regulations.
  10. Facilitate communication between all project stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
  11. Implement & maintain quality control procedures throughout the design & construction process.
Requirements

A successful Preconstruction Design Manager should have:

  1. A degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, or a related field.
  2. Proven experience as a Design Manager working for a main contractor.
  3. A background in managing the preconstruction phase.
  4. Demonstrable client management skills.
  5. An excellent understanding of construction methodologies and regulations (particularly residential, student accommodation, and hotels).
  6. Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  7. Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet project deadlines.
