Consultant General Anaesthetist with an interest in Orthopaedics, Trauma and Regional Anaesthesia

The Nuffield Department of Anaesthetics is a leading centre for anaesthetic care, providing a comprehensive elective and emergency service for a wide range of surgical specialties. We are seeking a Consultant General Anaesthetist with a special interest in Orthopaedics, Trauma and Regional Anaesthesia to join our team.

The successful candidate will be required to join the Horton on-call group, part of the Oxford University Hospitals, and will have the opportunity to work with a diverse and inclusive anaesthetics team, supported by outstanding surgical colleagues.

The department provides a stimulating environment for professional development, with opportunities for research, teaching and leadership. We are committed to providing high-quality patient care and are looking for a colleague who shares our values and is passionate about delivering excellent anaesthetic services.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have excellent clinical skills, a strong interest in teaching and research, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. You will also need to have a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care and a passion for delivering excellent anaesthetic services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality anaesthetic care to patients undergoing surgical procedures
  • Develop and implement anaesthetic protocols and guidelines
  • Contribute to the development of the department's research and teaching programme
  • Participate in the on-call rota and provide cover for colleagues as required

Requirements:

  • FRCA or equivalent qualification
  • Experience in anaesthetic care, particularly in Orthopaedics, Trauma and Regional Anaesthesia
  • Strong interest in teaching and research
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
