About the Role

National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) is at the heart of the UK's energy infrastructure. Our energy network connects the nation, and it's essential that it's continually evolving, advancing, and improving. In NGET, we're passionate about operating our network safely and providing highly reliable quality of supply for our customers.

All assets connected to our transmission system are thermally rated to ensure safe operation. As a Senior Transmission Asset Ratings Engineer, you'll manage and maintain the thermal rating and circuit data, from project commissioning through to asset replacement. You'll take a leading role in developing the tools required to publish this data and ensure the integrity of all data held within the Thermal Ratings Database.

You'll use your expertise to support and develop others, contributing subject matter expertise to both internal and external stakeholders. You'll also use industry-wide innovation, research, and development to continually improve and refine NGET's understanding of asset ratings and improve ratings assessment techniques.

This role is based out of our offices in Warwick, and we'd like to see you there 2-3 days per week. This can be combined with hybrid working from home.

What You'll Need

You'll be educated to degree level in an engineering, numeric, or science-based subject or possess equivalent skills or experience. You'll have strong numerical, analytical, and MS Excel skills and be capable of utilizing ratings assessment tools. You'll be a self-starter with critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and you'll have experience and knowledge of engineering and asset management.

You'll have the ability to discuss and present detailed technical information in a way understandable to a non-expert. You'll also have the ability to prioritize your workload and manage requests for guidance from multiple stakeholders.
