Job Description

The Senior Electrical Engineer will work on high-voltage electrical projects ranging from LV to 132kV. This role involves reviewing Contestable Connection Offers from Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and delivering designs that comply with applicable DNO regulations, British, and IEC standards. Collaboration with the team is essential for achieving these goals.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit leadership abilities in all aspects of business operations.
  • Oversee design management for grid link and private network infrastructure projects from LV to 132kV.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to stated standards, rules, policies, and procedures to ensure excellent work delivery.
  • Participate in site visits with the construction team as needed to guarantee seamless design delivery.
  • Maintain and improve technical skills and competence to ensure high standards of delivery.

Deliverables:

  • Complete project-specific design risk assessments.
  • Provide regular reports and updates regarding project design status to customers and/or project managers.
  • Participate in customer and DNO meetings as required.
  • Evaluate DNO grid connection offers and project technical reviews.
  • Analyze client technical requirements documents, including employer needs and others.
  • Create conceptual and physical designs for private network infrastructure and grid connections from low voltage to 132 kV.
  • Design cable routes;
  • Single-line diagrams for main connections and protection.
  • Cable sizing studies.
  • Switchgear selection and specification.
  • Transformer selection and specification.
  • CT and VT sizing studies.
  • Battery charger sizing studies.
  • Tender and procure primary and secondary plant following detailed design.
  • Multicore schedule, multicore termination schedules.
  • Small power and lighting design.
  • Substation layout design.
