We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Rail Operations Supervisor to join our team at FirstGroup. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our rail services.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide cover for a variety of shifts as and when required, including covering shifts at other local stations when needed.
  • Ensure personal safety and that of others, including visitors and contractors, at all times.
  • Comply with company regulations, instructions, and legislation, undertaking periodic re-examination of competency.
  • Provide a safe, courteous, and helpful service at all times.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and well-presented customer environment, maintaining tasks detailed in cleaning schedules.
  • Undertake emergency procedures and implement evacuation procedures when required.
  • Carry out duties as directed by Duty Station Manager.
  • Ensure the safe and punctual dispatch of trains and maintain performance records.
  • Identify and report incidents of delays to services.
  • Wear uniform and safety clothing as supplied, maintaining a high standard of appearance.
  • Maintain security of the station premises during booked time of attendance.
  • Act impartially in accordance with RSP/TSA requirements when serving customers.
  • Carry out Winter Precautions as per Local Instructions.
  • Additional tasks as specified by the local manager and Station Supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Able to travel to the location of work within 60 minutes for all shift times.
  • Good general education.
  • Strong customer focus.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Team leadership ability.
  • Resilience.
  • Supervisory experience is desirable.
  • Able to distinguish colours with normal colour vision.

Working Pattern:

You will be working an average of 37 hours across 5 days per week.

As this is a GPR position, you could be required to work early, late, or nights on any day of the week.

As a General Purpose Relief, you will be covering a wide range of shifts, including Sundays and Nights across the Metro Region.

Turns of duty can vary in length from 7h 24m to 9h 15m.

The earliest start is 0515, and the latest finish is 2300, while Nights can be 2130 to 0645.
