About the Role

As a Protective Custody Specialist with HM Prison & Probation Service, you will play a vital role in maintaining public safety and supporting prisoners to turn their lives around.

Key Responsibilities
  • You will work closely with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of our prison facilities, prioritizing the safety and security of all individuals within the establishment.
  • Your expertise will be essential in managing and resolving conflicts, ensuring that our prisons remain safe and secure environments.
What You Will Need

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build strong relationships with colleagues, prisoners, and external stakeholders.
  • A proven ability to remain calm under pressure, making sound decisions in high-stress situations.
  • The physical fitness to perform duties as required, including responding to emergencies and participating in training exercises.
Benefits and Salary

This role offers a competitive salary of £30,902 per annum, plus additional benefits, including:

  • 25 days' annual leave, rising to 30 days after 10 years' service
  • Paid time off for public holidays and an extra privilege day
  • Civil Service pension scheme, with contributions from HM Prison & Probation Service
