Job Description:

Role Overview:

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Support Assistant to join our team of education professionals. As an SEN Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing support to students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the best possible education and care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in the classroom, particularly those with SEN, SEND, SEMH, and ADHD needs.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group assistance to help students with their academic studies and personal development.
  • Work closely with teachers to prepare lessons aligned with the curriculum and key stages.
  • Adapt lesson plans to suit the individual needs of students with SEND.
  • Ensure continuity of learning by supporting classroom activities in the absence of the teacher.
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies to create a positive learning environment.
  • Encourage students to build their independence, confidence, and social skills.

Requirements:

  • CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance is required.
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a similar role as SEN Support Assistant is mandatory.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A caring and patient approach when working with children.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
