Job Description:


We are seeking an experienced Library Operations Manager to join our team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a responsive library service, ensuring access, diversity, and inclusion are at the core of everything we do.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Jointly manage and support a team of library staff, including facilitators, operations officers, and information services assistants.
  • Deliver an inclusive library space, working closely with other teams to embed best practice and accessibility throughout our venue.
  • Provide consistently efficient and professional library services, ensuring all users receive accurate and timely access to information and resources.
  • Co-chair working groups to identify and deliver on personal and professional development.
  • Work in partnership with the team to develop and manage operations, including desk rotas, retrieval, and shelving services, facilities, and equipment.
  • Manage duty manager responsibilities, including dealing with visitors, complaints, security, and health and safety issues.
  • Plan, implement, and review development projects, confident in using information technology in a library or information context.

Requirements:



  • An experienced team leader with significant experience in line management and a proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team.
  • A passion for libraries, engaging people with collections, and creating inclusive environments.
  • Experience of developing and managing operations in a museum or library setting.
  • Knowledge and experience of duty manager responsibilities, including dealing with visitors, complaints, security, and health and safety issues.
  • Confident in using information technology in a library or information context, including library management systems, catalogues, databases, and e-resources.
