We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Practice Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Leicester, a category B Remand Prison located in Leicestershire.

HMP Leicester Overview

The prison has a male population of 356, with 80% of prisoners on remand. As a Senior Practice Nurse, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team providing quality, evidence-based healthcare to meet the immediate needs of patients.

About the Role

You will provide clinical leadership for the Primary Care team and be a critical leader within the scheduled care Team. This will involve acting as a role model, ensuring professional appearance and maintaining professional standards at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver face-to-face care and provide safe and effective health assessments and treatment of patients within the establishment.
  • Be accountable for your own practice, including the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and discharge or referral of patients, independent of medical intervention.
  • Work as part of the multi-disciplinary team in providing quality, evidence-based health care to meet the immediate needs of patients.
  • Clinical duties also include senior leadership in complex wounds, long-term conditions, and QoF management.

Requirements

  • NMC registration
  • Working autonomously as a clinical practitioner following best practice guidance and identifying risk to patients through sound use of clinical expertise
  • Knowledge of the safeguarding of adults and children
  • Innovative and embracing learning through continued professional development

Location

The role is based at HMP Leicester, a male prison located in Leicestershire.
