About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Marine FE Analyst to join our team at Babcock International Group. As a key member of our Marine Sector, you will play a critical role in delivering complex FEA analysis tasks and supporting product development throughout the design lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute and deliver complex FEA analysis tasks to support the development of marine engineering systems.
  • Use your deep technical knowledge to provide technical support to key customers and ensure efficient and effective delivery of engineering outputs.
  • Generate appropriate analytical methodologies for the optimisation of stress analysis studies and produce justified technical solutions.
  • Perform analytical studies using ANSYS, LD-Dyna, or Altair Hyperworks to analyse linear and non-linear, static, and dynamic, structural, thermodynamic, in time and vibration domains and multi-physics environment.

Requirements

  • Mechanical or structural experience within ships.
  • Experience in the use and application of ANSYS (preferable), LD-Dyna or Altair Hyperworks (desirable).
  • Proven experience in implementing robust verification and validation processes for stress analysis and experience in training and development of engineers in the field of stress analysis.
  • Experience in the development of Mechanical and Marine engineering systems on marine platforms, experience in using 2D and 3D CAD packages, experience of contributing in Design Reviews, experience of working with production teams as well as good written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

  • HND/HNC level qualification in an engineering discipline with experience in a relevant field.
  • Be a member of a relevant institution (e.g., RINA, IET, IMechE, IMarEst etc.) and hold Chartered status or have a route to Chartership.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
