Brighton College is seeking an exceptional Computing professional to lead and manage the Computing department, driving academic excellence and innovation in teaching and learning.
The Department
The Computing department is a dynamic and collaborative team of educators, dedicated to delivering high-quality education to students from Year 7 to Year 13. With a strong focus on computer science and programming, the department has achieved excellent results, including 97% A*-B at GCSE and 100% A*-B at A-Level.
The department is well-equipped with two dedicated computer suites, each with 25 machines, supported by a team of five technicians and a network manager. Extra-curricular activities include an advanced programming club, junior programming and game development club, junior and senior robotics teams, and a university preparation club.
Role Specification
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Computing department, taking responsibility for the teaching, progress, and attainment of all pupils. They will be an outstanding classroom practitioner, able to lead by example, and devise and oversee the department's extension programme.
They will also contribute to the school's pastoral system, generally as a tutor in one of our 13 houses, and participate in the co-curricular life of the school, through the extensive Games programme, and/or through the leadership of one of almost 100 school societies.
Safeguarding Responsibilities
This role will involve daily contact with pupils, and the successful candidate will be engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. All staff and volunteers have a responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom they are responsible and with whom they come into contact.

Brighton College has its own pay scale, above the maintained sector, and an excellent and flexible benefits package, which can be controlled by individual teachers themselves.
