Quantity Surveyor

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team at Macstaff. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing all commercial aspects of our projects, working closely with our site teams to maintain high standards of quality and profit.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all commercial aspects of projects, including cost control, risk management, and value engineering
- Work closely with site managers and contracts managers to record and price variations, and accurately record their effect on final accounts
- Participate in the calculation and preparation of company valuations and final accounts
- Prepare and present monthly job cost analysis data
- Organize and manage subcontract orders, applications, and assist with subcontract enquiries and management
- Undertake costs analysis for repair and maintenance projects
- Assist in establishing client requirements and undertaking feasibility studies
- Liaise with internal Accounts Departments to ensure cash flow for forthcoming monthly payment certificates
- Perform risk and value management and cost control
- Analyse costs of subcontractors before work commences
- Identify, analyse and develop responses to commercial risks
- Value completed work and arrange payments
- Maintain awareness of different building contracts in current use
- Understand the implications of health and safety regulations
Requirements
- HNC in Construction or relevant Degree level qualification
- Detailed knowledge of private residential building contracting
- Awareness of property taxation matters and contractual law
- Good technical understanding of traditional and modern building methods and products associated with refurbishment and new build projects of both traditional and contemporary design in the prime and super prime residential sector
- Good working knowledge of MS Office, including intermediate level of Excel
- Ability to write clear and precise communications, including detailed and complex figures, calculations and specific building information
- Strong numeracy and financial management skills, and ability to learn construction management IT packages
