
Senior Occupational Therapist Specialist

Main Responsibilities- To lead a specialist clinical area as an autonomous professional, providing highly developed skills and knowledge in neurological rehabilitation.
- To manage and prioritise a complex caseload of service users with diverse mental/physical health needs and challenging behaviour.
- To address occupational performance and skill deficits, enabling service users to participate in daily activities, education, and leisure pursuits.
- To develop comprehensive programmes of care, ensure effective handover to colleagues, monitor progress, and modify treatment to measure effectiveness.
- To delegate tasks appropriately, taking responsibility for handover, monitoring, and review.
- To engage resistant or distressed service users and families using empathetic communication skills.
- To conduct detailed risk assessments, regularly reviewing and updating them, and communicating with the team effectively.
- To collaborate with service users, family/carers, and external agencies in a sensitive and flexible manner, considering individual needs and circumstances.
- To contribute to multidisciplinary teams, sharing specialist knowledge, actively listening, participating in meetings, and contributing to shared decision-making.
- To support clinical leads in maintaining contact with family and outside agencies, coordinating rehabilitation programmes, and facilitating discharge planning.
- To assess and issue equipment, referring to external agencies as needed, ensuring adequate training and risk assessments.
- A diploma or degree in occupational therapy, registered with HCPC.
- Experience in neurological rehabilitation and ability to work autonomously.
- Excellent communication and report writing skills.
- Ability to formulate complex risk assessments and supervise others.
- A valid UK driving licence.
The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of £46,148 - £52,809 per annum, DOE, along with excellent benefits including discounts on various brands and services, 38 days annual leave (pro-rata), access to the Employee Assistance Programme, training, and more.
