NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is a leading healthcare provider in the UK, employing over 40,000 staff in various clinical and non-clinical roles. We deliver a wide range of services, including acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health care, to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million through our regional and national services.
The shift pattern for this position is 4/7, including weekends, night shifts, and public holidays. This is a full-time post, but part-time hours will be considered. Please note that the salary would be pro rata for part-time hours.
Ailsa ward is a 20-bedded, mixed-sex, adult mental health rehabilitation and continuing care ward within Stobhill Hospital, Glasgow. The ward provides care and treatment to adults with a range of treatment-resistant mental health conditions that have impacted their social and personal functioning. Our aim as a nursing team is to work closely and collaboratively with our patient group, Consultant Psychiatrist, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, and Therapeutic Activity Nurses to provide excellent, holistic, evidence-based patient-centered care, focusing on supporting patients and their families on a journey to recovery and a productive life outside of a hospital setting.
As a multidisciplinary team, we encourage a psychological approach to recovery, centered on an ethos of empowering patients through Cognitive Remediation Therapy to improve outcomes, functioning, and interpersonal skills. We also conduct regular psychological formulation sessions for our MDT to attend, assisting us in understanding how best to develop care plans to achieve the best for our patients.
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our professional and dedicated team as a Health Care Support Worker. The post-holder will be responsible for contributing to the care and support of people and will provide care and support as part of an agreed plan of care, which involves the use of a strength-based recovery-focused approach that proactively involves the person.
When you join us in Ailsa ward, you will become part of the wider NHSGGC Mental Health Services and join a large, caring, compassionate, professional team. We work collegiately, focusing on staff development as well as placing importance on caring for staff health and wellbeing. You will be supported through a robust induction, ongoing competency-based training, and continuous professional development (CPD).
The post-holder directly contributes to safe, efficient service delivery and may occasionally be required to work across the mental health in-patient service, providing nursing care to meet the needs of the service.
We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic, caring staff who are committed to providing excellent patient care with a focus on recovery and empowerment and carer involvement.
Ailsa ward is based within Stobhill Hospital in Springburn, Glasgow, with easy links to the M8 and excellent public transport links.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde encourages applications from all sections of the community and promotes a culture of inclusion across the organisation. We support applications from across the Armed Forces Community, recognising military skills, experience, and qualifications during the recruitment and selection process.
NHS Scotland is reducing its full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024, with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part-time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment reflect the new working hours.
