As a highly specialist speech and language therapist, you will be part of our multidisciplinary team at Adarna House, a 9-bed rehabilitation service for men with mental illness and a secondary diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.

Job Summary

We are seeking a confident and experienced speech and language therapist to join our team on a fixed-term basis, covering maternity leave. You will work part-time (16 hours per week) delivering an evidence-based SLT service to meet the needs of our complex client group.

Main Duties

  • Deliver expert assessments, advice, and interventions to promote functional communication systems and optimal independence
  • Train others, promote good practice, and maintain a successful total communication environment
  • Screen, assess, and manage eating, drinking, and swallowing difficulties

About the Role

You will be accountable to the Director of Speech and Language Therapy (Healthcare) and the onsite service manager. You will also be responsible for supervising an SLT (Band 5 equivalent) providing input to Adarna Ward.

Requirements

  • Registered Speech and Language Therapist with the HCPC
  • Experience in adult mental health and/or ASD
  • Dysphagia qualification desirable
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Passionate about student education

Salary and Location

The salary for this role is £45,492-£47,836 per annum, based on a Band 7 equivalent. The location is Adarna House & Cygnet Hospital Wyke (Adarna Ward), Bradford.
