Job Summary

Senior Clinical Fellow in Breast Surgery with General Surgery Expert

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Clinical Fellow in Breast Surgery with General Surgery Expert to join our dynamic team at Whittington Health NHS Trust. This is a 12-month fixed-term placement with a view to extension and potential conversion to a substantive post for the suitable candidate.

The successful appointee will work alongside colleagues in the thriving and busy oncoplastic breast service department, providing elective and emergency patient care in both in-patient and out-patient settings. Key responsibilities include carrying out elective outpatient activity independently, performing and assisting in a wide range of oncoplastic breast procedures, and participating in the General Surgery on-call rota.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Undertaking PhD/MD

Eligibility

  • Full registration with the GMC at time of appointment
  • Evidence of achievement of ST1/CT1 competences in a relevant specialty at time of application and likelihood of achieving ST2/CT2 competences in a relevant specialty by the start date of the post
  • Eligibility to work in the UK

Language Skills

  • Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English, adequate for effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues

Health

  • Meets professional health requirements (in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice)

Clinical Skills

  • Relevant specialty clinical knowledge
  • Clinical judgement and experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk
  • Practical skills, including aptitude for required skills

Desirable

  • MRCS or equivalent ATLS
