Production Shift Manager Opportunity

JAM Recruitment is partnering with a leading food manufacturing business in Telford to find a skilled Production Shift Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all staff and operational areas in line with key business policies, procedures, and applicable legislation. The team will be responsible for producing high-quality products that meet customer requirements on time and to specification in a safe and efficient manner, while adhering to agreed cost standards.

The role involves working on a rotating shift pattern, Monday to Friday, with a current one-week rotation but changing to two weeks in the future. Key responsibilities include:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading and engaging manufacturing-related employees on shift
  • Managing personnel in line with company procedures, including absence, performance, and disciplinary policies
  • Managing and scheduling the throughput of the production department
  • Monitoring, measuring, and reporting on production-related process performance
  • Analysing performance data and implementing actions to correct areas where targets have not been achieved
  • Managing and evaluating machine resources to ensure productivity with minimal downtime
  • Advocating for continuous improvement within the shift
  • Collaborating with other shifts to ensure a consistent approach to day-to-day tasks and the implementation of improvements
  • Ensuring all employees follow industry-standard health and safety guidelines, good housekeeping policies, and lean manufacturing protocols
  • Analysing and improving current production processes to ensure maximum efficiency
  • Liaising with production planning to ensure the production plan is adhered to and labour is allocated effectively
  • Attending and actively contributing to H&S, Quality, and Production Planning Meetings, ensuring any actions are appropriately delegated and completed
  • Flexible to cover or deputise for other management roles within their capability
  • Leading meetings for areas of responsibility (SQDC, KPI, etc.)

The ideal candidate will have:

Requirements:
  • Proven experience in press manufacturing
  • Experience in managing a team
  • Strong motivational skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • FMCG or food packaging background (highly desirable but not essential)
