Job Title: Childcare Manager

Ozanam Daycare Limited is seeking a dedicated and experienced Childcare Manager to lead our team in shaping the early educational environment for children.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a team of staff, motivating them with a shared sense of direction, pride, and energy.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and manage all Daycare staff and support personnel.
  • Support and supervise staff with their day-to-day duties to ensure they perform their roles safely and effectively.
  • Ensure all new staff follow an induction program, are mentored, and receive ongoing training.
  • Manage staff appraisals and any disciplinary or grievance matters.
  • Undertake Designated Officers roles in relation to First Aid and Safeguarding.
Children's Needs:
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and stimulating environment for children that promotes learning through play.
  • Maintain meticulous records of children's attendance, observations, health progress, and any incidents that occur.
  • Liase with the Social Worker appointed by the Trust to the facility.
  • Maintain waiting lists for all rooms, ensuring rooms are working to full capacity where possible.
  • Manage the enrolment process for new children, ensuring parents are put at ease and welcomed to the setting.
Environment and Operations:
  • Monitor the condition of the facility and equipment, organising maintenance and repairs.
  • Purchase new items as required to ensure a clean and hazard-free environment.
  • Understand, implement, and evaluate the policies, procedures, guidelines, and principles of good practice as detailed by the Southern Trust's Minimum Standards requirements.
  • Implement the Health & Safety Policies, risk assessments, equipment checks, and fire regulations.
  • Annually review policies and procedures and update when necessary.
Person Specification:
  • Minimum of Level 5 qualification in Childcare.
  • Full UK Driver's Licence.
  • A minimum of 2 years recent experience working in a Daycare setting in a similar role.
  • Empathy and understanding of children's and staff needs.
  • Calm and caring nature.
  • Sense of humour.
  • Ability to write reports and keep accurate and clear records.
  • Administrative and IT skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Reliable, enthusiastic, and flexible.
  • Ability to work well under stress.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills.
