At Barclays, we are seeking a highly skilled Private Banking Lawyer to join our team as a Compliance Specialist. This role plays a key part in providing legal and regulatory coverage for the Private Bank & Wealth Management's (PBWM) Investments business in the UK, Jersey, and Ireland.

The Investments business offers a wide range of services, including wealth planning, discretionary portfolio management, investment advice, dealing, and custody. The PBWM business provides banking, credit, and investment services to retail and institutional residents across multiple jurisdictions.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced investments focused lawyer to make a significant impact on our team. We are looking for someone with strong knowledge and experience across the investment product and service universe.

A key aspect of this role is to develop and implement best practice legal strategies to manage risk related to non-adherence of laws, rules, and regulations. You will also provide legal advice and support to the bank's Private Bank & Wealth Management division on matters arising from the investment, credit, and banking products/services provided by the division.

Purpose of the Role:

To ensure the activities in the Private Bank & Wealth Management division are conducted in compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, and to help the bank manage legal and reputational risks associated with these activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development and implementation of best practice legal strategies to manage risk related to non-adherence of laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Legal advice and support to the bank's Private Bank & Wealth Management division on matters arising from the investment, credit, and banking products/services provided by the division.
  • Subject matter support in the Legal department's representation of the bank in legal proceedings related to Private Bank & Wealth Management activities, such as litigation, arbitration, and regulatory investigations.
  • Creation and review of legal documents for the Private Bank & Wealth Management division to ensure the bank's adherence with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Legal research and analysis to stay up to date on changes in laws and regulations that may impact the bank's Private Bank & Wealth Management activities.
  • Developing and delivering training programmes to educate employees on legal and regulatory requirements related to the division.

We are offering a competitive salary of £120,000 - £180,000 per annum, depending on experience. Additionally, you will receive a comprehensive benefits package, including pension scheme, life assurance, and annual leave.
