Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Humanities Teacher to join our secondary school in London. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of Humanities subjects, including History, Geography, and Religious Education, across Key Stages 3 to 5. You will be expected to deliver engaging and high-quality lessons that foster a passion for the humanities and support students in achieving academic success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver creative, engaging, and differentiated lessons in Humanities subjects (History, Geography, RE) in line with the National Curriculum.
  • Teach Humanities across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, preparing students for GCSE and A-Level exams.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to inspire students, making lessons relevant and applicable to real-world issues.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their learning and development.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and behavior in line with school policies.
  • Create a classroom environment that encourages inquiry, debate, and critical thinking.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively, ensuring a safe and respectful learning atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices, contribute to curriculum development, and participate in departmental meetings.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, including field trips and school events related to Humanities subjects.
  • Stay up to date with changes in the National Curriculum and best practices in teaching Humanities.
Key Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a relevant degree in a Humanities subject (e.g., History, Geography, Religious Education).
  • Experience teaching Humanities across Key Stages 3 to 5.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Humanities education.
  • Excellent classroom management skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with a commitment to providing a high-quality education for all students.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEN.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable:
  • Experience preparing students for GCSE and A-Level exams in Humanities subjects.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations and supporting students with varying abilities.
  • A proven track record of contributing to curriculum development and extracurricular activities.
