We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher to join our team at a SEMH school in Gloucester. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for providing high-quality education to students with Special Educational Needs and Mental Health (SEMH) requirements. This is a temporary position with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.



About the Role

This role involves working with students who require additional support and accommodations to access the curriculum. You will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized education plans tailored to each student's unique needs. This includes creating engaging and effective lessons, assessing and recording student progress, and providing targeted support and interventions to help students achieve their potential.



Responsibilities


  • Develop and implement individualized education plans for students with SEN/SEMH needs.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective lessons tailored to each student's needs.
  • Assess, record, and report on the progress and attainment of students.
  • Provide targeted support and interventions to help students achieve their potential.
  • Collaborate with parents, guardians, and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure a comprehensive support system for students.
  • Provide guidance and support to teaching assistants and support staff to ensure a cohesive and effective team.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation, including student files and progress reports.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and motivation.


Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:




  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Prior experience working with students with SEN/SEMH needs.
  • A strong understanding of SEN policies and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting students' growth and development.

Salary and Benefits
