We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Learning Support Assistant to join our inclusive primary school in Barnet.

As a key member of our support team, you will provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs, helping them to engage with learning and school life.

You will work closely with the SENCO, teachers, and external professionals to ensure that the support provided aligns with each child's needs. This may involve developing and implementing tailored learning and behaviour plans, focusing on the child's social, emotional, and academic development.

To succeed in this role, you will require experience working with children with SEMH or related special educational needs in a school or similar setting. Strong behaviour management strategies and an empathetic, patient approach to challenging behaviours are essential.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents, are also crucial. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children is paramount.

The salary for this position is £30,000 - £40,000 per annum, reflective of your experience and commitment. We offer ongoing training and professional development to support your career growth, as well as a warm and inclusive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs.
  • Develop and implement tailored learning and behaviour plans.
  • Work closely with the SENCO, teachers, and external professionals.
  • Support the creation of a calm, supportive, and safe environment.
  • Help students manage their emotions, behaviours, and social interactions.
  • Monitor and record students' progress.
