We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at SGS in a key role that involves certification and compliance. As a Certification Engineer - Flameproof/Increased Safety, you will play a crucial part in assessing equipment design and ensuring it meets the necessary standards.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of equipment design to ensure compliance with IEC60079 series Standards.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on assessment, certification, examination, and testing of equipment.
- Evaluate documentation for adherence to relevant standards and regulations.
- Issue Certificates describing equipment and acceptable variations.
- Certify equipment under UKCA, ATEX, IECEx, and North American schemes.
- Foster strong relationships with manufacturers or their agents to facilitate smooth certification processes.
- Provide cost estimates for assessment, testing, and certification services.
- Specify sample equipment and special requirements as needed.
- Offer specialist advice and guidance to colleagues and clients.
- Review, verify, and countersign the work of others to maintain high quality standards.
Requirements:
- Possess a technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering through higher education.
- Demonstrate experience in assessment and certification of electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Bonus points for holding a degree-level qualification in Mechanical/Electrical engineering.
