Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Cultural Ambassador to lead the development and implementation of innovative cultural projects that align with our strategic priorities. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Commissioning services that deliver against our culture, heritage, and tourism objectives;
  • Developing and implementing new, creative cultural projects that support our strategic priorities;
  • Liaising with stakeholders to ensure efficient, effective, and customer-focused client services;
  • Delivering and developing our corporate and community events programme;
  • Leading on the implementation and delivery of our event-related priorities;

Key Responsibilities

The Chief Cultural Ambassador will provide strategic guidance and advice to members, officers, and stakeholders on events, ensuring the Council discharges its statutory duties in respect of event planning. This includes representing the council's interests and working with providers to achieve effective contributions to the delivery of our priorities on culture, events, heritage, and tourism.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong understanding of and commitment to our equal opportunities policies;
  • Substantial experience as a senior manager in a culture, events, heritage, or tourism role or holding a recognized qualification and relevant experience;
  • Knowledge of local government, legislation, and public sector services;
  • Experience of working in the culture, events, heritage, or tourism sector, including up-to-date knowledge of key sector legislation and strategies;
  • Strategic planning, decision-making, and influencing skills.

Salary Information

The estimated salary for this role is £65,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience. We offer a competitive benefits package, including a pension scheme and professional development opportunities.
