Head of School

About the Role:
The Head of School will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the school, working closely with the Principal to develop the school's strategic direction and shared values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and sustain the school's ethos and strategic direction, in collaboration with the Principal and governing board.
- Develop and oversee systems, processes, and policies to ensure effective school operations.
- Identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to enhance school effectiveness.
- Implement school improvement strategies and allocate resources efficiently.
- Undertake safeguarding duties, working closely with the Principal and other stakeholders.
- Create a positive and enriching school environment for pupils.
- Ensure high-quality teaching and learning, based on evidence and best practices.
- Promote good relationships with parents and carers, fostering partnerships to support pupil well-being and achievement.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher status (QTLS or QTS)
- Recent management/leadership training (desirable)
- Accredited training in specific areas of special education (desirable)
- At least 3 years of successful leadership and management experience in a school
- Experience of teaching in a specialist SEMH environment
- Involvement in school self-evaluation and development planning
- Demonstrable experience of successful line management and staff development
- Experience of working with school governors/trustees or executives
- Data analysis skills and ability to use data to inform decision-making
- Understanding of high-quality teaching and learning, based on evidence
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build strong working relationships
- Up-to-date knowledge of statutory regulations and guidance relating to the role
- Commitment to safeguarding and equality
