About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our Transition to Independent Living and Training Flat team at Barnardo's Swansea Service, Barnardo's Cymru Western Bay Locality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver direct, planned, and structured one-to-one and group sessions with young people to support them in achieving their person-centred goals in a trauma-informed way.
  • Support young people to develop independent living skills, including cooking, budgeting, cleaning, and bill paying, through accredited programs and practical experiences.
  • Provide targeted one-to-one support to young people at risk of homelessness or placement breakdown, aged 16+.
  • Work with young people and professionals to develop agreed support plans and deliver group work programs in independent living and tenancy readiness.
  • Visit and support service users in their placements, providing support to young people and their carers.
  • Support young people to integrate into their communities and participate in community events and activities.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of the issues affecting young people, particularly those who have been 'looked after', are care leavers, or are homeless/threatened with homelessness.
  • Experience of direct work with young people in a relevant setting.
  • Experience of creating tailored support plans with young people and demonstrating positive outcomes.
  • Experience of delivering group-based sessions, such as issue-based workshops and independent living skills programs.
  • Ability to travel independently to meet the requirements of the post.
