Job Description

Wincanton Holdings Limited is seeking a highly skilled Warehouse Shift Manager to lead the operations of our warehouse. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient running of the warehouse, delivering consistent performance, and meeting operational KPIs.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Proactively motivate and lead a team of supervisors to achieve planned targets and ensure deadlines are met.
  2. Support the delivery, monitoring, and reporting of operational daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly KPIs.
  3. Ensure supervisors are taking actions and following company processes and procedures in relation to absence, annual leave, performance, employee engagement, employee relations, and health and safety requirements.
  4. Ensure a proactive approach to health and safety via risk assessment and ensuring the team complies with health and safety policies and reporting.
  5. Analyze productivity and performance and make recommendations for improvements.
  6. Review team performance regularly, including performance management reviews.
  7. Manage team performance, timekeeping, attendance, overtime, and sickness levels of individuals and action as per procedures.
  8. Ensure effective communication throughout the operation, communicating planned requirements, providing information on performance, company news, and procedures.
  9. Monitor and manage agreed budgets.
  10. Responsible for the management, development, and motivation of temporary labour to cope with the demanding customer volumes, including relationships with local agencies.
  11. Responsible for the continual improvement of process/methods of the site operating practices.
  12. Manage customer expectations, ensuring all escalations are dealt with to a high standard and in a timely manner.
  13. Alongside other shift managers, manage union relationships.
Requirements
  1. 1 year's experience in a warehouse environment, preferably within the logistics or manufacturing sector.
  2. Knowledge and understanding of shift KPIs and operational processes.
  3. Excellent team building, leadership, flexibility, and motivational skills.
  4. Ability to delegate tasks to ensure high performance and KPIs are met.
  5. Excellent level of verbal and written communication skills in English.
  6. IT literate with a good understanding of Microsoft programmes.
  7. Agile approach to strategy and planning.
  8. Passion for continuous improvement and improving efficiencies.
  9. Ability to make decisions based on data.
  10. Flexibility to meet the operational requirements.
  11. High level of self-awareness and takes accountability for own development.
  12. Ability to work effectively in a team.
  13. Line management and effective people skills.
  14. Ability to mentor, develop, and empower direct reports to use initiative.
