Job Summary

As a Health Visitor with Central London Community Health Trust, you will play a vital role in delivering a high-quality health visiting service to clients in the South West community. Your primary responsibility will be to provide skilled, effective, and evidence-based health visiting services to clients in various community settings.

Main Duties

  • Provide health advice and health education programs to clients.
  • Undertake developmental assessments of babies and children.
  • Help individuals come to terms with issues such as postnatal depression.
  • Establish and address key health needs.
  • Refer to and liaison with other relevant organizations.
  • Assess parenting skills and children's home situations, and offer parents any further support that may be needed.
  • Work with other professionals such as social workers, GPs, and school nurses.

Central London Community Health Trust is currently re-shaping the way Health Visitors work, looking at new and innovative practices to improve health across London. This includes agile working and provision of laptops to all staff.

Job Responsibilities

To provide a skilled, effective, and evidence-based health visiting service to clients in a variety of community settings. To apply specialist skills and knowledge in the delivery of the health visiting service. To consult, advise, and educate individuals and families on good health care practices. To develop health profiles of the defined population and local communities, identifying health needs of disadvantaged groups and targeting outreach services to meet their needs.

Person Specification

Education/Qualification

Essential

  • Current NMC registration.
  • Evidence of continuing post-registration education and training.

Desirable

  • Mentor training or prepared to work towards.

Experience

Essential

  • Recent health visiting experience.
  • Be able to co-ordinate health promotion initiatives in line with local and national health improvement targets.
  • Experience of assessing, planning, and implementing programs of care and writing support to others.
  • Experience in providing practice-based learning support to others.

Desirable

  • Office management and caseload.
  • Critical appraisal skills and ability to utilize research evidence in practice.
  • Ability to be flexible and responsive to client and organizational needs.
