Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage ventilated, haemofiltered, and cardiovascularly compromised patients under supervision, developing professionally and utilising competency-based knowledge and skills.
  • Support Nurse Team Leaders and Nurse team managers in the training and development of junior staff.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the management of acutely unwell/deteriorating patients nursed outside the critical care setting.
  • Keep fully informed about changes in Critical Care, Outreach, and update professional knowledge to meet the requirements for Revalidation.

Person Specification:

  • RGN
  • Willingness to complete Diploma/Degree in Critical Care Nursing.

Desirable:

  • Post-basic course ENB 124/100/920
  • ENB 998/City and Guilds 7307
  • Evidence of continuing education

Previous Experience:

  • Ward experience within an acute environment
  • Critical Care experience
  • Critical Care shift leadership
  • Mentorship training
  • Awareness of resource management

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Good standard of clinical care
  • Able to work well in a team
  • Knowledge of current developments in pre and post-registration nursing
  • Awareness of current issues in Nursing/NHS
