Job Title: Senior Planning Officer

Elevate Projects Ltd is working in partnership with a Wiltshire-based public sector organisation to appoint an interim Senior Planning Officer to the Development Management team.

This is a senior-level appointment that requires monitoring the quality and quantity of work, providing advice, guidance, and support to colleagues to ensure team achievements are met.

The Development Management service is responsible for determining planning applications, with accountability for performance. The team follows a prescribed set of planning acts, procedure notes, central and local planning policy guidance, and regulations.

While some decision-making processes are subjective, there is a high degree of legal and prescriptive procedure that must be followed to avoid challenges to the process or decision.

Certain organisations are statutory and must be consulted on specific types of applications, such as the Environment Agency and Parish and Town Councils.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the quality and quantity of work
  • Provide advice, guidance, and support to colleagues
  • Ensure team achievements are met
  • Follow prescribed planning acts, procedure notes, and regulations
  • Consult with statutory organisations as required
