Payroll Assistant Trainee

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Trainee Payroll Assistant to join our client's team in a dynamic and supportive environment. Reporting to the Head of Payroll, this role offers a chance for an entry-level assistant with a passion for Finance and Payroll to be trained to process multi-client payroll portfolios for the company's growing Payroll function.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will involve:

  • Processing monthly payrolls (end-to-end) for clients in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Ensuring all payroll actions are compliant and delivered in accordance with relevant legislation and contractual obligations.
  • Providing advice to clients and employees to respond to payroll queries.
  • Supporting clients with payroll reporting requirements.
  • Calculating benefits and producing P11d's & PSAs and submitting to HMRC.
  • Setting up assistance on new PAYE schemes and any handover payrolls.
  • Setting up pension schemes as required.
  • Dealing with all Auto Enrolment enquiries / setting up Auto Enrolment pension schemes.
  • Performing manual calculations as required.
  • Communicating with HMRC on any PAYE related queries.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have studied a STEM-related subject at A-level or have studied Finance at University.

You should be diligent, able to prioritize and juggle a busy workload with an accurate sense of attention to detail. A great communicator, you can engage and communicate with people of all levels. Punctual and organized, you are able to meet deadlines within a timely manner, always understanding and recognizing the importance of clients' payroll activities and needs.

Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite is essential to the success of this role.

Please note that this is a standalone payroll position. Our client is interested in seeing candidates that have a passion for building a career in Payroll and will help and support you to get there.
