About the RoleWe're seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in enhancing product scalability and usability, helping us consistently deliver features that support our customers' success. Your key areas of focus will be:
- Collaborating with our product and engineering managers to prioritize, scope, and lead the delivery of product features
- Designing and implementing complex, performant frontend business logic in JavaScript
- Writing and upgrading UI components using JavaScript and other technologies
- Developing automated tests to ensure quality (unit and end-to-end testing)
- Supporting, mentoring, and coaching other members of the team
- Working with our engineering team to enhance quality, scalability, performance, and maintainability
- Supporting our culture of learning, development, and teamwork
- Being involved in the entire life-cycle of features, including idea creation, deployment, and longer-term updates and enhancements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A strong background in JavaScript development, with experience in writing complex frontend business logic
- Experience working in agile teams as part of a product development environment
- Comfortable writing unit tests and end-to-end automated tests
- Able to zero-in on bugs without looking at the code, based on your experience and intuition
- Passionate about shipping a product you can be proud of
- Comfortable challenging and raising issues at any level
- Well-informed on good software development principles, and able to implement them pragmatically
- Knowledgeable about a range of technologies, and quick to learn others
- An excellent and kind communicator, able to raise awkward questions kindly, and to recognize when you need help
- Experienced in collaborating with others - you will be working closely with engineering, product, and QA colleagues
- Adaptable, and motivated to try/learn new things
- Great at breaking down large tasks into manageable chunks
- Able to see the Big Picture - how your decisions affect your colleagues and your users
While not essential, experience in the following areas would be beneficial:
- Working with complex web interfaces with large DOM views
- Writing tests in Jest, Cypress, or Playwright
- Experience with our stack: C#,.Net (+Core), Java, RabbitMQ, SQL Server, and/or Microsoft Azure
- Experience working in (or with) the Professional Services industry
We offer a competitive salary, ranging from £50,000 to £58,500 depending on experience, with earning potential up to £63,500. You will also receive:
- At least £1,000 per year to spend on professional and personal development
