Job Title: Construction Buyer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Buyer to join our dynamic and growing SME construction business. As a Construction Buyer, you will be responsible for overseeing all material and hire requirements for the business, ensuring cost control throughout the procurement process and managing delivery logistics to ensure timely and efficient project completion.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Procure all materials and equipment required for construction projects, ensuring timely delivery and optimal costs.
  • Manage hire requirements, ensuring the availability of necessary tools and machinery for construction projects.
  • Implement and maintain cost control measures to optimize procurement budgets and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to negotiate contracts and secure the best terms for the business.
  • Monitor and manage delivery logistics to ensure timely and accurate deliveries, minimizing delays and costs.
  • Collaborate with project managers and site teams to understand material needs and timelines, ensuring seamless project execution.
  • Maintain accurate records of procurement activities and inventory levels, providing regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to procurement and supply chain, ensuring business continuity and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Procurement Manager in the construction industry (or similar).
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with a focus on meeting deadlines and delivering results.
  • Knowledge of procurement software and tools, with experience in using them to manage procurement processes.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on collaboration and communication.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks.
