The Role: Director - Building Surveying

We are seeking an experienced Director of Building Surveying to lead our team in London & South East. The successful candidate will be part of a dedicated team of building surveyors covering all aspects of professional and project-related building surveying across both the private and public sectors.

As a key member of our team, you will support project leaders in delivering high-quality services, achieving successful outcomes for our clients, capturing and sharing knowledge across projects, enhancing our culture of innovation, and reinforcing our reputation as a preferred service provider. Your role will involve assisting in the management of client and project teams to deliver building surveying services profitably and efficiently to a diverse range of clients.

Your Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and mentor an expanding team of building surveyors across the London & South East region.
  • Develop and expand our existing client base within key sectors.
  • Manage and support the team engaged on existing commissions.
  • Develop and improve the performance of the team; formulate and implement a local growth plan in consultation with senior directors.
  • Manage the recruitment, supervision, and development of staff within your allocated teams, liaising closely with line managers.
  • Proactively market Currie & Brown locally and nationally across existing and potential markets; develop new business and clients aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Participate in bid winning activities, including drafting proposals and attending key industry events.
  • Implement and monitor relevant administration systems as well as standards for customer care.
  • Manage the administration of your teams, ensuring that facilities and working practices adhere to company guidelines.
  • Take responsibility for compliance with the company's health and safety policy and other relevant policies.

Skills and Attributes We Seek:

  • BSc in Building Surveying
  • Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS)
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in building surveying within a consultancy environment.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and managing teams.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client relationship management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in relevant building surveying software and tools.
